Thanks! It was hearing for the umpteenth time someone implying that taxing something has no effect other than that it raises money for the government that inspired me to write this piece. It is indeed intriguing to see that view contrasted with that of sin taxes, which are definitely aimed at influencing behaviour — sometimes in one and the same person.
